Are you a Twitch streamer or moderator looking to refund Channel Points on your channel?
In this post, we will walk you through the step-by-step process of refunding Channel Points and highlight some important things to consider during the process.
What are Channel Points?
Channel Points are a virtual currency on Twitch that viewers can earn and spend on their favorite channels who are part of either the Affiliate or Partner program on the platform.
Viewers can earn Channel Points by watching and participating in streams, and they can spend them on various rewards and benefits offered by streamers.
Why Refund Channel Points?
Sometimes, viewers may spend Channel Points on rewards or benefits by mistake or change their minds after redeeming them or you may just not be able to fulfill their redemption.
In such cases, they may want to refund the Channel Points and get them back.
It’s important to note that you can only refund custom rewards and not the default rewards.
How to refund channel points on Twitch as a Streamer
- Log in to your Twitch account and go to the dashboard of the channel where the Channel Points were redeemed.
- Click on the “Channel Points” tab in the left-hand menu under Viewer Rewards.
- Click on the “Manage Rewards & challenges” button to see a list of all the rewards offered on the channel.
- You should then see a “Review Requests Queue” button, click on that.
- In the window that opens, you’ll see all the current requests that are waiting to be fulfilled.
- Next to the requests that you cannot complete, you should hit the Reject button and this will return those channel points to anyone who has redeemed them.
- Once the refund is processed, the Channel Points will be returned to the viewer’s account.
Important Things to Consider:
- Channel Point refunds can only be initiated by the channel owner or moderators with the “Manage Rewards” permission.
- Refunded Channel Points may take some time to show up in the viewer’s account, depending on the server load and network conditions.
